PhD course in Digital Research - 7.5hp

Starting 6 November, we offer a second round of our PhD course in Digital Research (7,5 credits) in collaboration with Digsum. The course provides an introduction to digital research in the humanities and social sciences. The orientation is broad and covers, for example, digital research methods, and legal, historical, and other critical approaches to digital society.

The course consists of three parts:

  • A general introduction to the field, and how it emerged at the intersection of the humanities and social sciences.
  • Lectures, practical demonstrations and workshops on digital methods. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are covered, with a focus on the combination of different methods. The course has a thorough section on etichs with internationally leading guest lecturer Charles Ess.
  • Examples of specific applications of the tools and perspectives, connected to ongoing digital research in the humanities and social sciences at Umea University.

PhD students from all parts of Umeå University (or other universities) are welcome to take part.
